A Day In The Life Of Doe Deere02.08.18

One look at Doe Deere and you will see that there is something very beautifully unique about her. She is a woman with a personality that is as vibrant as her look. Doe Deere was born in Izhevsk, Russia where she first unleashed her entrepreneurial spirit. In grade school she started getting class mates attention when she wore temporary tattoos. She took that attention and ran with it, selling the temporary tattoos to her classmates. At 17 she moved to New York to pursue her music career. Here is where she met her husband Mark. In 2008 she launched her very successful makeup company, Lime Crime, after not being able to find the colorful products she wanted on the market.

So how does a successful CEO spend her day? And how does she do it while maintaining that beautiful, colorful look? She starts each morning at 8:30am, and doesn’t need an alarm clock to do this. Living in the dry Los Angeles climate she understands how important it is to stay hydrated, so her first task of the morning is to drink a full glass of water. She then moves to doing some stretches to get the blood flowing, then on to breakfast. Her go to breakfast items are grits, yogurt, fruit, and fresh squeezed juice from her orange tree. Now she’s ready for business, first surveying her phone for updates, then checking in with her team and answering emails. She is a regular on Instagram, posting and checking trends. Learn more:

With morning business out of the way it’s time to put together that beautiful, bright, vibrant Doe Deere look. She always starts with a freshly washed face followed by moisturizer. She gets out the curling iron to give her long colorful hair some big soft curls. She applies her foundation, sets her makeup, and fills in her brows. Currently Lime Crime does not have a foundation line, but we may see one soon. Now onto the colorful and her favorite part of her makeup routine. Blush is applied, and a lipstick usually in a shade of red or pink. She gives her two cats some love and then off to the office. When she arrives it is usually noon and time for lunch and talking with her team. The meetings start soon after her arrival and typically don’t end until 6pm. This busy CEO also has a free spirit side to her. In her quest to find a makeup with fun bright colors she has created a successful and unique makeup line that offers everyone a chance to express themselves. And that is the mission.

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi Rises To Top Of Latin American Banking Industry01.12.18

Luiz Carlos Trabuco Cappi, the current CEO of Bradesco, has recently announced that he will be stepping down from that post in order to take over the chairmanship from the outgoing Lazaro Brandao. Trabuco Cappi has spent the last 9 years as CEO, a position in which he was able to complete the largest acquisition in Brazilian history: the purchase of HSBC Brazil for $5.2 billion in cash.

Trabuco Cappi is a remarkable figure for more reasons than one. He came from a poor background and rose to the absolute heights of Latin American finance, proving that the region of the world known as the Global South is fully capable of producing the same kind of Horatio-Alger-like success stories on which America long claimed a stranglehold according to In fact, stories like that of Trabuco Cappi present strong evidence that many countries across Latin America that were once considered the third world are rapidly catching up to and even surpassing the United States, in measures of social mobility, educational opportunities and even the production of new millionaires.

Brazil finds its legs as Trabuco Cappi comes of Age

Trabuco Cappi’s career history can almost be taken as a proxy history of Brazil itself. Coming to work for Bradesco fresh out of high school at the age of 18, Trabuco Cappi was a walk-in hire. It was his first job ever after graduating in University of Sao Poalo. He had grown up in a lower-middle-class family in the small town of Marilia, Sao Paulo. It is worth pointing out that what is considered lower middle class in Brazil is considerably more deprived than its American counterpart. By any first-world standard, Trabuco Cappi’s childhood was one of grinding poverty.

But the talented youth had a knack for making lemonade of lemons, and he had the ferocious drive frequently seen in those who grow up under deprived conditions. Over the course of his first year, Trabuco Cappi was promoted twice, first becoming a shift manager then being promoted to branch manage. Throughout the 1970s, he continued to receive a string of promotions up the ranks of the firm. This happened at precisely the same time that Bradesco itself was rapidly expanding, slowly going from a small, local thrift institution and on its way to becoming the modern financial powerhouse that it is today.

And Bradesco’s expansion occurred among a time of unprecedented growth in the country of Brazil. People like Trabuco Cappi are exemplary of why Brazil was never destined to stay the third-world slum that it had been for the first 400 years of its existence. Although the country has long been wracked by social ills and deep structural problems, such as endemic corruption, some areas of the country have always had enormous and growing human capital. It was always a certainty that this pool of talent, ambition and industry would eventually begin to lift the country from its ancestral mud bog into the rarefied penthouses of Sao Paulo’s modern skyline.

Another aspect of Trabuco Cappi’s rise was his fastidious attention to the ways in which American banks operated on This was not merely an interest borne out of admiration for the success of Northern financial institutions, it was Trabuco Cappi’s conscious plan to emulate the best aspects of North American finance, while discarding the more dysfunctional aspects of the industry.

One way in which he was able to do this was by directly going after the high-net-worth client market in Brazil. By the mid-90s, Bradesco had attracted so many new millionaire clients that it was able to issue tens of billions of dollars in new loans. This dramatic expansion of the bank’s balance sheet was attributed singularly to the efforts of Trabuco Cappi.

Getting to know Doe Deere09.27.17

In a sea of beige cosmetics, the beauty industry would be brought to life through the colorful brand Lime Crime, and it’s founder Doe Deere. Also known as the ‘Queen of Unicorns’ by her cult following, Doe’s career began at an early age in her home country of Russia. In an interview with Samantha Guarnieri, Doe recalled back to being thirteen years old and selling temporary tattoos to her classmates. Later at the age of seventeen, with gained entrepreneurial skills and a heightened motivation, she travelled to the United States with dreams of becoming a musician.

She would go on to live for many years in New York City with her husband, who she met while playing together in a band. Their collaborative relationship came in handy as Doe made a drastic career switch when she developed one of the first digitally-native beauty brands, Lime Crime. When asked by Galore’s Stephanie Janetos about her inspiration and upbringing, Doe explains that since she was little she always loved vibrant colors, and used them as much as she could whether she was painting or working pops of color into her wardrobe. As an adult she would later be inspired to create her brand from numerous unsuccessful searches for colorful makeup, amongst all of the beiges and neutral tones being sold. This desire in combination with her business experience produced her successful name and cosmetic line that many enjoy today.

Lime Crime stands for the idea that bright green makeup should be considered anything, but a crime. While being bold the company is also conscious, as they’re certified vegan & cruelty-free. The company packs a punch with bold lipsticks, eyeshadows, facial products, nail lacquers, and even hair dyes! A unique feature of the brand is their fun packaging, seen in items such as their new eyeshadow palette’s designed after the nostalgic Polly Pocket toys from the 90’s. Another trend setter is their majestic line of top-selling unicorn makeup brushes. Lime Crime can be found on multiple social platforms as well, check out their Instagram limecrimemakeup for daily updates on new products and styles.

Living in Los Angeles now, she continues to grow her empire and follow her heart. She can usually be found on the sets of decadent photoshoots and trying out her newest products. From Russia, to New York City, and finally the west coast Doe Deere has pushed the boundaries in life and never said no to a challenge. When asked by Guarnieri what advice she would give to young ambitious women, she beautifully put “go where you love.” She urges her fans to seek out their passions and embrace weirdness. This ideology is carried throughout her brand Lime Crime, by providing products that promote everyone to have the freedom to express themselves in life and their look. Learn more:
