Dr. Rod Rohrich: Insuring the Future of Reconstructive Surgery

Plastic surgeon and Distinguished Professor of the Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Rod Rohrich, M.D. F.A.C.S., is a respected leader in plastic surgery improvements relating to technology and procedures used around the world for reconstructive surgery. He is a world class plastic surgeon who currently practices medicine and teaches in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Rohrich has been recognized as the Top Doctor in America many times for his research and care for patients. In addition, Dr. Rohrich has received the highest award given to doctors in this field, the “Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation Distinguished Service Award”. This award is given in recognition of his influence on the education and practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery.

For more than twenty years, as Chair of the Department of Plastic Surgery at UT Southwestern, his team and their work has put the Medical Center at the heart of research and education in wound healing and reconstructive plastic surgery. Care for the patients is taught by Dr. Rohrich and put into use by his team and comparable teams around the country and throughout the world.

Dr. Rohrich also serves as the Editor in Chief of the medical journal, “Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery” and travels around the world giving lectures on the latest advancements in reconstructive surgery, rhinoplasty, aging, and facial aesthetics. His contributions in these areas include patient safety, and promoting safe plastic surgery techniques. In addition to his world-traveling and teaching, Dr. Rohrich is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and serves as Chairman of the Dallas Rhinoplasty Symposium.

Dr. Rohrich has been give many awards for his work in plastic surgery, and more specifically his advancements in rhinoplasty. This procedure is used for correcting and reconstructing the nose. In some patients, this may be an aesthetic enhancement, however, rhinoplasty is often a necessary procedure for restoring the function of the nasal passages due to birth defects or trauma to the face.
