On December 21st 2015, Securus ,the leading provider in criminal justice technology, announced and was reported by PR Newswire that it had released THREADS 3.1 which is considered the most advanced big data tool in the corrections market. This new technology provides state of the art programming to help them conduct their investigations. In addition to this, THREADS 3.1 also monitors inmate activity in order to detect suspicious calling patterns, associations and fraternization. In other words, THREADS 3.1 is giving a new outlook to criminal justice technology.
I find that in being able to help investigators carry out their work, Securus is making it harder for criminals who are currently incarcerated to carry out crimes from inside prison. While the most serious of crimes are committed by criminals who are roaming the streets, there is still a lot of criminal activity that is carried out from inside the prison system. Making this process harder for criminals helps to weaken the hierarchy of established gangs which will in turn help to take care of the problems associated with gang culture.

I find it sad whenever I hear about a young person being murdered because of the criminal activity that goes on in America. The sales of illegal drugs and illegal guns has turned many of America’s poorest areas into battlefields, unnecessarily claiming the lives of many individuals. While the issue of criminal violence is a difficult one to tackle, any step toward improving the situation is always a win for society. Securus technology is helping to close loopholes for individuals who have no business walking the streets.

Duda Melzer, Advancing a Family Legacy06.14.16


Businessmen and entrepreneurs are always attempting to plant the seeds of businesses that will flourish and carry on their legacies long after they’re gone. When Mauricio Sirotsky Sobrinho joined Radio Gaucha in 1957, and later started the RBS Group (Grupo RBS) to purchase Radio Gaucha, little did he know he was beginning a 60 year legacy.

As a young adult he was a studious pupil and earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil and an MBA from Harvard University in the United States. Before joining one of Brazil’s most efficacious family businesses, Duda was the master franchisor of Sweet Sweet Way, a leading chain of candy kiosks and caramelerias in Brazil and Argentina. After departing the candy business, Duda spent a decade as the General Manager of BoxTop Media, a contemporary media company based in New York.

Duda first joined his family’s media and communications conglomerate in 2004 taking on the position of Director General for the Brazilian market. A little over a decade later Melzer now stands at the helm of his grandfather’s legacy both as Chairman and President of the RBS Group. Recently, Keith Mann worked with several members of New York City’s financial community to raise quite a bit of money for Uncommon Schools. $22,000 was raised and the money is intended for a very specific purpose. PR Newswire reports the event took place at the Standard Hotel Beer Garden.

The funds will be used to cover student testing costs at a new charter school location. As the person in charge of Dynamics Search Partners, Mann is able to make strong connections with people in the financial services industry.

Dynamics Search Partners promotes itself as a provider of talent to the “alternative investment arena”. Generally, the firm serves those who work in the hedge fund industry. Mann choose a proper word when founding his firm. Hedge funds and alternative investments positively are dynamic. Jobs related to those industries do require special talent as Mann surely realized during his university years and when served as a Manager of the Alternative Investments Division earlier in his career.

Uncommon Schools wants to help students who might not have the financial means to attend private preparatory schools to access the best possible education at a local charter school. (Uncommon Schools has a strong presence in New York and New Jersey, and also has chapters in other states) Uncommon Schools is a non-profit entity, which means it is reliant on fundraising to cover the costs of very expensive day-to-day operations. Mann directly contributed funds to a scholarship for graduating students from Uncommon Schools.

The New Minister Of The Superior Electoral Tribunal In Brazil Is A Woman06.12.16

Brazil is known for white sandy beaches, scantily clad dancers, the bright lights of Rio and the endless poverty in its big cities. Brazil is not known for women politicians. Dilma Rousseff broke that glass ceiling seven years ago when she became president, but the love affair with a woman president didn’t last long. Rousseff may be removed from office because of corruption allegations and fudging the facts about the state of the economy. Rousseff’s actions have not helped the women in Brazil that are fighting to become legitimate members of the political system, but a few women are still moving forward in spite of the Rousseff debacle.

One of those women is Luciana Lóssio, the attorney that thrives on legal challenges. Luciana Lóssio always wanted to be an attorney. It was the one occupation that she believed could make a difference in the political system in Brazil. Lóssio earned her law degree in 1999, and it didn’t take long for her to land a job with the Attorney General of the Republic. Lóssio made a name for herself while she worked for two Attorney Generals during her seven years there. Her job was to prosecute, and she was an effective prosecutor. Lóssio was also a skilled and articulate speaker that had the ability to get her points across under difficult circumstances.

Lóssio’s reputation spread across the country, and she was in demand for her electoral law knowledge and experience.
